Licensing

One technology.
Two editions.

oracdc is available in two editions. oracdc Community is the open-source edition — the project you know from GitHub, licensed under AGPL-3.0+. oracdc Enterprise is a commercially licensed, closed-source edition from A2 Solutions for organizations that need vendor accountability, support SLAs and enterprise capabilities.

Open Source

oracdc Community

AGPL-3.0-or-later · public distribution
  • Full source code, publicly developed on GitHub
  • Production-capable CDC engine — RedoMiner, LogMiner and SnapshotLog sources plus JDBC sinks
  • Public releases on GitHub, Docker Hub, Confluent Hub, AWS Marketplace and Maven Central
  • Community support through GitHub issues
  • Free to use, study, modify and share under the AGPL
The edition this site documents. Community is real, production-ready open source — not a limited trial.
Commercial

oracdc Enterprise

commercial license · private distribution
  • Commercial proprietary license — no AGPL obligations
  • Enterprise capabilities focused on operating CDC at scale
  • Earlier access to selected new features
  • Support SLAs, priority fixes and direct engineering escalation
  • Long-term support releases and certified configurations
  • Delivered privately to licensed customers
For organizations where oracdc is business-critical infrastructure and a commercial vendor relationship is required.
Feature model

Where new work lands

Both editions are built on the same core technology. Community proves the technology; Enterprise makes it easier and safer to operate at enterprise scale.

Community

Core CDC, open to all

Core redo processing, Kafka integration, supported data types, correctness, security and stability fixes land in the open-source edition. Community is never intentionally crippled to force an upgrade.

Enterprise first

Early access to innovation

Selected new capabilities are introduced first in oracdc Enterprise and may later become available in oracdc Community.

Enterprise only

Built for operating at scale

Capabilities focused on enterprise operation — management, monitoring, governance, lifecycle and deployment tooling — may remain exclusive to Enterprise.

Open-source license

AGPL-3.0+, in plain language

oracdc Community is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3 or later. Here is what that means in practice.

Use it freely — including in production

Running unmodified oracdc Community anywhere in your organization, including business-critical production pipelines, does not obligate you to publish any of your own software.

Modify it — share alike

If you modify oracdc Community and distribute it, or let users interact with your modified version over a network, the AGPL requires you to make your modified source available under the same license.

Commercial and OEM licensing

If you want to embed or redistribute oracdc as part of a proprietary product or service without relying on the AGPL terms, A2 Solutions offers commercial licensing. Redistribution and OEM use are subject to a separate OEM agreement.

Distribution

Which edition am I running?

All oracdc source code and packages distributed through public channels are oracdc Community, licensed under AGPL-3.0+, unless explicitly stated otherwise.

oracdc Enterprise is a commercially licensed, closed-source edition developed and supported by A2 Solutions. Enterprise releases are never published to public repositories — they are distributed privately to licensed customers.
